THREE CHARACTERISTICS OF A DISCIPLE
  1. Finds his or her identity in Christ. (Move Up)
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters--yes, even his own life--he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26
  1. Finds his or her priorities in Christ. (Move Out)
"In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:33
  1. Carries on the mission of Christ. (Move In)
John 8:31-32
If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free John 8:31-32
As we study the theology of the nature, and person of Jesus Christ (Christology), we come to learn and understand the details of Jesus' ministry, his acts and teachings, to arrive at a clearer understanding of whom he was (his role in salvation), who he is, and who Jesus will be. Jesus Followers grow with a commitment to be a learner and follower of God’s Word, the Holy Bible. The scripture further encourages us that the characteristics of a disciple embody personal Christ-like convictions, passionate commitment, and public confession.
Let us determine within ourselves to be kingdom minded. Sometimes even our determination to be comfortable can manifest as covert bondage. In the scripture, Jesus was trying to reveal to them their need for liberation & Emancipation. They were in bondage but did not know it. A life in Christ offers freedom from the bondage of sin, freedom from the guilt of sin and freedom from the power of sin. We should measure ourselves Biblically. Searching a deeper knowledge and understanding of his word. Such habits are foundational for the fruitful follower.
